What is Navpad Oli?

The Navpad are the nine objects of Jain worship drawn on the Siddhachakra yantra: the five supreme beings (Arihant, Siddha, Acharya, Upadhyay, Sadhu) and the four virtues (right faith, right knowledge, right conduct and austerity). One pada is worshipped each day.

The Oli runs from Shukla Saptami to Purnima of Chaitra and of Ashwin (Aso). Many keep Ayambil on all nine days and recite the story of Shripal and Mayanasundari.

Ayambil

Ayambil is one meal a day of boiled grains and pulses, without salt, oil, ghee, milk, sugar, spices, fruit or green vegetables. Some keep the colour of the day, eating a single grain matching the pada's colour.
