What is Gyan Panchami?
On Gyan Panchami the Agams and other scriptures are cleaned, displayed and worshipped in upashrayas and temples, and children are given books and pens. Many fast and recite the 51 logassa or the Gyan pad, praying for right knowledge and the removal of karmas that obscure it.
The day falls five days after Diwali and the Jain New Year.

Digambar Jains keep a day of scripture on Jyeshtha Shukla Panchami: Shrut Panchami, which marks the day Acharyas Pushpadanta and Bhutabali completed the Shatkhandagama, the first written Digambar scripture.
