My Tithi

Birthdays, anniversaries and Shraddha kept by the Hindu calendar move every year. Save them once and see the day each one falls on next.

How the day is found

A date's tithi is the one running at sunrise at your location, with its lunar month (counted from the new moon, Amanta). Each year the tithi is kept on the day whose sunrise it covers. When it covers two sunrises the first is kept, and when it covers none (a kshaya tithi), the day it begins.

A Shraddha is kept in the afternoon (Aparahna, the fourth fifth of the daytime), so it falls on the day whose Aparahna the tithi covers most, as for the Pitru Paksha Shraddhas.

In a year with an Adhika (extra) month of the same name, the tithi falls in the regular month, or in the Adhika month if the original date was in one and you chose to keep it there.
