Sun Transit 2028: Surya Gochar Dates and Rashi Changes
Sun changes sign 12 times in 2028. It starts the year in Sagittarius (Dhanu) and enters Capricorn (Makara) on 15 January 2028; its last change of the year is into Sagittarius (Dhanu) on 15 December 2028. Surya, the Sun, is the karaka (significator) of the soul, the father, authority, government and vitality. Its entry into each sign is a Sankranti: the Makar Sankranti festival marks its entry into Capricorn (Makara), and the solar months of the Tamil, Bengali and Odia calendars begin with these entries.

Sun transit 2028 effects by Moon sign
A transit is read from your Moon sign (Janma Rashi), not your Sun sign. Sun gives good results when it transits the 3rd, 6th, 10th, and 11th houses from the Moon, and mixed or testing ones elsewhere. The table above lists the Moon signs each of its 2028 stays favours.
How long Sun (Surya) stays in a sign
Sun stays in a sign for about 30 days. The Sun never turns retrograde, so it enters each of the 12 signs once a year, on nearly the same dates every year.
Why these dates differ from Western astrology
These dates use the Vedic sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri ayanamsa, which is about 24° behind the tropical zodiac of Western astrology. So Sun enters each sign here weeks after the date a Western horoscope gives for the same sign. Times are for Ujjain: the moment of a transit is the same everywhere, but the local date can differ.
