About This Stotram

Overview

The Runa Vimochana Narasimha Stotram is a Sanskrit hymn of 10 verses addressed to Lord Narasimha, the man-lion avatar of Vishnu, specifically for relief from debts (runa vimochana). It belongs to the Vaishnava devotional tradition and draws on the understanding of Narasimha as a fierce yet compassionate deity capable of removing both material and karmic burdens.

What are the benefits of chanting Runa Vimochana Narasimha Stotram?

  • Relief from financial debts and economic hardship
  • Removal of obstacles blocking material stability
  • Protection from adversaries and harmful circumstances
  • Attainment of prosperity through divine intercession

When is the best time to recite this?

Morning or evening recitation is recommended. Thursday, associated with Lord Vishnu and his avatars in the Vaishnava tradition, is a suitable day. It may also be recited daily during periods of financial distress.

What is the historical and traditional background?

The stotram belongs to the Narasimha devotional tradition, which has been active across South and North India for several centuries. Narasimha worship and associated stotra literature developed extensively within Vaishnava traditions, particularly in the Pancharatra and Sri Vaishnava schools. The specific authorship and scriptural source of this hymn are unknown. The combination of Narasimha with Lakshmi in iconographic tradition underlies the dual association with protection and prosperity that this stotram reflects.
