Shubh Muhurat December 2026: Vivah & Griha Pravesh Dates

Shubh Muhurat in December 2026: Vivah, Griha Pravesh, Vehicle and Property

December 2026 is really two months in one. Up to Saturday, 12 December you can still find wedding dates. On 16 December the Sun enters Sagittarius (Dhanu Sankranti), Kharmas begins, and there are no wedding muhurats until mid-January 2027.

So if a December wedding is on the cards, you have a handful of dates in the first two weeks and that's all. Griha pravesh, vehicle and property dates carry on through the month.

All the dates below are for New Delhi. Further down there's a separate wedding list for New York, because the timings shift with sunrise and in some cases the dates do too.

Vivah muhurat in December 2026

A wedding muhurat needs a favourable nakshatra (Rohini, Mrigashirsha, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha, Mula, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati are the usual ones), a suitable tithi, and both Jupiter and Venus visible in the sky. On top of that, the Sun mustn't be in Sagittarius or Pisces, which is why mid-December to mid-January is closed.

What the list means in practice:

• Wednesday 2 to Thursday 3 December is close to one unbroken window: from 10:31 AM on Wednesday to 10:54 AM on Thursday, under Uttara Phalguni and then Hasta. That's plenty of room for an evening or night phera.
• Friday 4 December only has a morning window, 6:58 AM to 10:23 AM.
• Saturday 5 December opens at 11:49 AM and runs through the night to 7:41 AM on Sunday, under Swati. It's the first weekend date of the month.
• Saturday 12 December is the big one: Uttara Ashadha from 3:04 AM on Saturday to 3:28 AM on Sunday. It's a Saturday, it's the last date of the year, and it's almost a full 24 hours. If you're thinking of 12 December, book the venue and the pandit now.

Wedding dates for New York and Toronto

In the eastern US and Canada, the wedding dates line up almost exactly with India's, but the windows sit differently on the clock. Saturday 5 December runs from 1:19 AM to 9:11 PM, and the last window starts on the afternoon of Friday 11 December and runs until 4:58 PM on Saturday 12 December.

Toronto has the same windows (both cities are on Eastern time), with sunrise about half an hour later. London's dates are the same too: Saturday 5 December and Friday night into Saturday 12 December.

Griha Pravesh muhurat in December 2026

Moving into a new home is done on a fixed nakshatra (Uttara Phalguni, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada, Rohini) or a soft one (Mrigashirsha, Chitra, Anuradha, Revati), on a good tithi, and preferably not on a Tuesday.

• The early-month dates mirror the wedding ones: Wednesday night 2 December into Thursday morning, Friday 4 December from 10:23 AM to 11:45 PM, and Saturday 12 December until 2:06 PM.
• After that there's Friday night 18 December into Saturday 19 December (Revati, until 3:58 PM on Saturday), and Wednesday 30 December in the morning.

Vehicle purchase muhurat in December 2026

For a vehicle the panchang looks for a movable or quick nakshatra (Ashwini, Pushya, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Shravana, Dhanishtha and others) and avoids Rikta tithis (Chaturthi, Navami, Chaturdashi) and Amavasya.

• Thursday 3 to Friday 4 December: one long window from 9:23 AM Thursday to 11:45 PM Friday.
• Sunday 13 to Tuesday 15 December: from 4:48 PM on Sunday right through to 7:06 AM on Tuesday, under Shravana and Dhanishtha. That covers all of Monday the 14th, a working day, so you can pick up the car from the showroom.
• Later options: Wednesday 23 December (Purnima, from 10:47 AM) and Wednesday 30 to Thursday 31 December, if you want the car before the new year.

Property purchase muhurat in December 2026

Buying land or a house goes by stable nakshatras such as Mula, Purva Ashadha, Revati and Punarvasu, and the start of the bright fortnight is a favourite.

• Thursday 10 to early Saturday 12 December is the longest stretch: from 7:02 AM on Thursday to 3:04 AM on Saturday, about 44 hours. Two working days for paperwork and the bank.
• Thursday 17 December (until 3:30 PM) and Friday evening 18 December into Saturday morning.
• Friday 25 December, from 1:47 AM to 10:50 PM under Punarvasu. It's Christmas, so registry offices and banks will be shut. It's fine for signing an agreement or paying the token amount, but plan the registration for another day.
