Abhijit Muhurat is an exceptionally auspicious period occurring around solar noon. This muhurat is unique because it is considered universally favorable for starting any new venture, regardless of other astrological considerations. Even if the day has unfavorable planetary positions, Abhijit Muhurat neutralises negative influences.
This period represents the peak of solar energy when the sun is at its zenith, symbolising power, clarity, and success. Lord Vishnu is believed to preside over this time, blessing all endeavours initiated during this window. Abhijit Muhurat is approximately 24 minutes long (half a muhurta) and occurs 8 muhurtas after sunrise.

Calculated as the 8th muhurta from sunrise, lasting approximately 24 minutes. The exact timing varies based on day length and sunrise time at your location.
Can Abhijit Muhurta override a bad tithi?
Classical texts say yes — Abhijit is considered universally auspicious and can neutralise inauspicious yogas and tithis, making it useful when other timing choices are limited.
Why is Abhijit Muhurta not recommended on Saturday?
Saturday is governed by Saturn, whose slow, contracting energy is considered at odds with the swift, victorious character of Abhijit. Traditional Vedic practitioners simply skip it that day.
How precise do I need to be about the timing?
Aim to begin within the window, even near its start. Initiating the key action — the first handshake, the first signature — is what matters most.
