Historical and traditional background
Tallapaka Annamacharya (1408–1503 CE) was a Telugu saint-composer revered as the Padakavita Pitamaha — grandfather of song poetry — in Telugu literature. He composed over 32,000 keerthanas dedicated primarily to Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala. His works were preserved on copper plates and later rediscovered, forming a cornerstone of Carnatic devotional music. Okapari Kokapari is one of many compositions from this vast corpus that use simple language to express philosophical insight about the omnipresence of God.
